Measuring a stand-up pouch is simple once you know the three key dimensions: Width (W) x Height (H) x Bottom Gusset (BG). **Width** is measured from side to side. **Height** is measured from the very top to the very bottom of the pouch. The **Bottom Gusset** is the depth of the “floor” that allows the pouch to stand; measure it from front to back when the bottom is fully expanded. Always provide these three measurements for an accurate quote.
The bottom seal style affects how the pouch stands and what it can hold. A **Doyen Seal** (or U-Seal) is a single, large U-shaped seal, common on lighter products as it provides a clean look. A **K-Seal** has additional angled seals on both sides of the bottom gusset. This K-shape takes stress off the side seals, allowing the pouch to stand more stably with heavier, bulkier products.
Product density varies greatly, so a 250g pouch for granola will be much larger than one for coffee beans. The best way to find the perfect size is to **request samples**. As a starting point, tell us your product and target weight, and our experts can recommend a size that has worked for similar products. We always advise testing your actual product in our sample pouches before placing a full order.
No, not all pouches are suitable for liquids. Liquid packaging requires specific high-strength materials and reinforced sealants to prevent leaks and delamination, especially for hot-fill or aggressive products. For easy dispensing, we also strongly recommend adding a **spout and cap**. If your product is a liquid, oil, or sauce, please inform our team so we can engineer a pouch structure specifically for that purpose.
